Actor Arya, directors Vijay, Sasi and Simbudevanwere among those who attended the function.

Some groups had warned of protests claiming that the film had been produced with the backing of Sri Lankan president Rajapakse. The producers stoutly denied the charges.

Indirectly responding to the charges, said the audio launch was taking place in a smooth manner despite rumours being spread by some persons. These were baseless, he said amidst applause from his fans.

“I have never claimed to be a tyagi (martyr) nor am I a dhrogi (traitor)”, he said to the cheers and whistles of his fans. “I am a harcore Tamizhan and I had always dedicated myself for the welfare of Tamils”, he added.

Murugadoss, too in an indirect reference to the controversy, said he always had the interests of Tamil Nadu uppermost in his mind. He was not money-minded, he said adding that in fact he made less money from Hindi films than Tamil movies.
